REPORTING HIGHLIGHTS

  • Hewlett-Packard Co. revenue for the period ended Oct 31 came in at $29.1B, which topped analyst expectations of $27.8B. This is in comparison to revenue of $29.96B generated in the same period of last year.
  • HP's Commercial PC's business unit saw a 4% increase in revenue, while its Enterprise Group reported a 1.8% rise in revenue compared to a year ago.
  • Sales in most of HP's other business units recorded declines.
  • Hewlett-Packard Co.'s Net Income came in at $1.41B (or $0.73/Share) compared to a $6.85B loss ($3.49/Share) loss reported in Q4 of last year.

As a reaction to the earnings results HPQ's stock price rose to $27.36 at the close of trading following the earnings release. This was the highest that the stock had risen since February of 2012, and represented a 92% rise in the stock's price for the year.

In addition, HP management announced that in 2014, over 50% of its free cash flow will be returned to its shareholders in the form of share buybacks and dividends.
