Stocks declined across the board today with the S&P 500 falling -1.24%, the Nasdaq dropping over -1.50% and the Dow (DJIA) declining 108 points. At the NYSE, declining stocks (2,327) outpaced advances (696), while the Nasdaq had 1,941 decliners versus 565 advances.
- The stock of Harvest Natural Resources (HNR), an “oil and gas fields” company plunged -40.50% today after the firm announced a collapse in the sale of its “$725 million Venezuelan Energy” portfolio.
- Shares of Millennial Media were the next biggest loser, declining -37.54% to close the day at $8.95. The Firm reported Q4 2012 earnings that greatly disappointed investors.
- Shares of NetSpend (NTSP) stock were the highest gainer across the NYSE and Nasdaq today. NetSpend, a Prepaid Debit Cards and Financial Services firm reported that it was in discussion to be acquired by Total Systems Services for $16 a share ($1.4 billion in total).
- Meru Networks (MERU) stock was the next highest gainer across the NYSE and Nasdaq. Shares of the company rose 19.88% to close the day at $4.10 a share.
