SunPower stock (SPWR) was the next highest gainer across the NYSE and Nasdaq. By the end of trading, the stock price had soared 19% to close at $9.44. The rise in the stock was due to numerous reports showing that the solar energy industry as a whole was set to soar. Credit Suisse‘s analyst Satya Kumar published a report arguing that prices for polysilicon (used to build solar panels) were “at a trough". The Financial Times also reported that the industry may be close to creating bonds that cluster small installations into securities and generate cash flow from the electricity generated.
