Stock Market Headlines

Stocks ended higher today with all three major indexes continuing to edge up to their all-time highs. The Dow (DJIA) index is now at 14,127.82, only 36.71 points away from its highest level ever of 14,164.53 – reached on October 9th, 2007, right before the financial crisis and subsequent recession.

The S&P 500 rose 7 points to end the day at 1525.20 and the Nasdaq was up 12.29 points, ending the day at 3182.03. Advancing stocks (1,669) outpaced decliners (1,313) on the NYSE, while the Nasdaq had 1,316 advaners versus 1,149 decliners.

Nasdaq & NYSE Biggest Losers

  • Shares of DragonWave (DRWI) dropped -27.62% today, making the stock the biggest loser across the NYSE and Nasdaq. The firm announced a lower than expected Q4 revenue estimate
  • GMX Resources was the next biggest loser, declining -18.39% to close the day at $2.53. The oil and gas exploration and production company today reported it had been notified by the NYSE of a possible delisting of its stock
  • Shares of Atlantic Power (AT) were the third biggest losers across the NYSE and Nasdaq, dropping -16.99%. On Friday, the firm announced further deterioration in its financial figures and cut its dividend to investors
